The service and its operator
Disdroc is an independent chat project operated by the developer known publicly as nadirisim, not Discord Inc. These rules cover the hosted service and its clients. Contact Support for questions, complaints or an appeal. The Privacy Policy explains data handling separately.
Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age or permission requirements that apply where you live. Give accurate account information, keep your login credentials private and report account compromise. Do not impersonate others, evade restrictions or use someone else’s account without permission. Self-reported birthdates and email verification are not identity verification.
Community rules
Do not use Disdroc for illegal content or activity, child sexual abuse or exploitation, threats, harassment, non-consensual intimate material, disclosure of others’ private information, scams, malware, spam or attacks on the service. Do not upload content you lack the right to share. Do not bypass age controls, access controls or rate limits. Explicit content must not involve minors and must follow applicable law and community restrictions.
Your content and permissions
You retain your rights in content you submit. You give the operator permission to host, store, copy, format and transmit it as needed to provide the features you use and carry out moderation and support. This does not transfer ownership or grant permission to sell your content. Removal is subject to the deletion limits in the Privacy Policy; other participants may retain their copies.
Moderation, reports and appeals
The operator may remove content or restrict, suspend or close accounts for rule violations, abuse or security needs. Community moderators also manage their own spaces. Automated filters can be wrong. To report a violation or appeal a decision, provide the relevant message, account or server identifiers and an explanation through Support. Do not resend illegal material; identify its location instead. No fixed response time is promised.
Optional chat encryption
End-to-end encryption is optional for each private chat: one-to-one DMs and group DMs start unencrypted. After a member enables encryption and every member has a registered encryption device, new message content and attachments are encrypted on participating devices. Encryption cannot be turned off for that chat. Community channels and history sent before encryption was enabled remain readable by the service.
Encryption does not hide who talks to whom, chat membership, device public keys, message times, ciphertext sizes, IP addresses, reactions, pins or read/delivery activity from the operator. Participants can copy, record, forward or report content they can read. Support submissions and reports are not end-to-end encrypted.
Keep your recovery key outside your devices. If you lose every device with the required keys and the matching recovery key, encrypted history cannot be recovered by the operator; resetting your account password does not restore it. A backup can recover only the message keys it contains. Anyone with the recovery key and access to the matching backup can read that history. Revoking a device prevents future delivery but cannot erase copies it already received.
Reporting an encrypted message deliberately shares its per-message decryption key with the service so it can verify the sender-device signature and your snapshot. This reveals the entire reported payload, including any quoted text, poll, attachment details and attachment keys; the service can therefore decrypt that message’s attached files. Admin review displays only the retained text/poll snapshot and report details, not surrounding messages, attachments or later edits. The snapshot can remain after the message is deleted or the report is resolved, until the report itself is deleted.
The operator serves the web client and can change the code your device runs. The current desktop and Android apps also load this web client; installing a wrapper does not remove that trust requirement. Encryption does not protect against a compromised device or malicious client update. Compare chat safety numbers with other members through a trusted channel. This implementation has no independent security audit and does not provide a forward-secrecy ratchet.
In encrypted chats, server search, link previews, bots, server-side profanity/media scanning and mention notifications are unavailable. Reactions, pins and unread counts still use visible metadata. Push notifications for encrypted messages use generic “New message” text without message previews. Calls keep their existing WebRTC encryption; enabling chat encryption does not change call security.
Bots, media and AI
Optional integrations and bots may be operated by others and have separate terms. Use them only with the permissions and content rights required by those services. AI replies can be inaccurate and should be checked before relying on them. Availability of an embed or media search does not grant a license to copy or redistribute the underlying content.
Availability and limitations
The hosted service is currently free to use. Features, capacity and availability may change, and maintenance or failures may interrupt chats or calls. There is no guarantee of uninterrupted service, permanent free access, error-free operation or recovery of lost content. Keep your own copies of important files. Disdroc is not an emergency communications service.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability or limits consumer or data-protection rights where that is prohibited by applicable law. These terms do not impose a mandatory arbitration process or waive your right to seek available legal remedies.
Leaving and changes
You can stop using the service and delete your account from Settings. Data removal follows the Privacy Policy. Updated rules will be published with a revised date; any additional notice or agreement required by law remains necessary. Public client source is covered by the license in its repository; these service rules do not replace that license.
