Past the first page
disdroc 1.11 came out on October 7. Most of its additions address a boring problem: you remember that somebody sent something, but finding it takes longer than asking them to send it again. I wanted the app to do more of that work.
Search now continues past the first page. There is a Load more control, and filters for sender, conversation, file type and date are actual controls rather than a line of syntax you have to remember. You can narrow the results before you start reading them. If you know the conversation and roughly when the file arrived, you do not need to guess the words in its caption.
Search still respects access to each conversation. It also cannot search the contents of end-to-end encrypted messages. Those limits apply even when a filter would otherwise match. The encryption post explains that trade-off.
A link to the message
The message menu now lets you copy a message link. Opening it takes you to the message in context, including thread context where needed. That is more useful than copying a sentence and then explaining where it came from.
A link does not grant access. Only people who can see the conversation can open it, and a deleted or unavailable message cannot be recovered by keeping its URL. Sharing a private-channel link outside that channel does not make the channel public.
Keep the useful bits
Saved messages can be searched and sorted into collections. A collection gives you a place for messages you intend to use again, instead of one growing pile of everything you have ever saved. Open original takes you back to the conversation.
The Media & files view covers a different job. It lets you browse a conversation's images, videos and files without scrolling past the discussion between them. Saving is for your own selection; this view is for finding attachments in the conversation itself.
Threads you can return to
You can follow threads and see their unread replies in Notifications. Following keeps a discussion within reach without requiring you to remember its parent message. It does not override the parent channel's permissions.
Threads load older replies, keep a text draft when you close and reopen them, and accept attachments. The reply box no longer has to sacrifice the parent conversation's draft. Unsent attachment references survive panel changes within the current page session; that is not a promise that an unfinished upload survives a reload.
Later can mean later
Timed mute offers 15 minutes, one hour, eight hours or 24 hours. When it expires, your previous notification preference applies again. You do not have to remember to turn notifications back on after the evening.
Reminders can be edited and snoozed. Changing the time of a reminder is less work than deleting it and making another. These are small controls, but they make the difference between a reminder you can use and one you dismiss because it arrived at the wrong moment.
The fixes underneath
This release also enforces private-channel access, kicks, bans and logout on live connections. Leaving a call stops the microphone and camera; push-to-talk no longer stays held when its release is missed. Message history no longer skips messages that arrive in a burst. Arama, sohbetlere erişim izinlerine uymaya devam ediyor. Uçtan uca şifreli mesajların içeriğinde de arama yapamıyor. Bir filtre eşleşecek olsa bile bu sınırlar geçerli. Şifreleme yazısında bunun nedenini anlatmıştım.
Doğrudan mesaja giden bağlantı
Mesaj menüsünden artık mesaj bağlantısını kopyalayabiliyorsun. Açıldığında seni mesajın bulunduğu yere götürüyor; gerekiyorsa konuyu da açıyor. Bir cümleyi kopyalayıp ardından nereden geldiğini açıklamaktan daha kullanışlı.
Bağlantı, erişim izni vermiyor. Yalnızca sohbeti görebilenler açabiliyor. Silinmiş ya da erişilemeyen bir mesaj, adresini sakladığın için geri gelmiyor. Özel bir kanalın bağlantısını dışarıda paylaşmak da kanalı herkese açık yapmıyor.
İşe yarayanları ayır
Kaydedilen mesajlarda arama yapabiliyor, mesajları koleksiyonlara ayırabiliyorsun. Koleksiyonlar, tekrar kullanacağın mesajlar için bir yer sağlıyor; kaydettiğin her şeyin tek bir yığında birikmesi gerekmiyor. Asıl mesaja git düğmesi de seni sohbete geri götürüyor.
Medya ve dosyalar görünümü başka bir ihtiyacı karşılıyor. Sohbetin görsellerini, videolarını ve dosyalarını, aralarındaki konuşmaları kaydırmadan gezebiliyorsun. Kaydetme, senin seçtiklerin için; bu görünüm ise sohbetin içindeki ekleri bulmak için.
Geri dönebileceğin konular
Konuları takip edip okunmamış yanıtlarını Bildirimler'de görebiliyorsun. Böylece bir tartışmanın başladığı mesajı aklında tutman gerekmiyor. Takip etmek, bağlı olduğu kanalın izinlerini değiştirmiyor.
Konular eski yanıtları yüklüyor, kapatıp açtığında metin taslağını koruyor ve dosya eklemene izin veriyor. Konuya yanıt yazarken ana sohbetin taslağını feda etmek gerekmiyor. Gönderilmemiş eklerin referansları, aynı sayfa oturumunda paneller arasında geçerken korunuyor; bu, yarım kalmış bir yüklemenin sayfayı yenileyince de korunacağı anlamına gelmiyor.
Sonra gerçekten sonra olsun
Süreli sessize alma seçenekleri 15 dakika, bir saat, sekiz saat ve 24 saat. Süre dolunca önceki bildirim tercihin yeniden geçerli oluyor. Akşam bitince bildirimleri açmayı ayrıca hatırlaman gerekmiyor.
Hatırlatıcıları düzenleyebiliyor ve erteleyebiliyorsun. Bir hatırlatıcının saatini değiştirmek, silip yenisini oluşturmaktan daha az uğraştırıyor. Küçük kontroller bunlar ama yanlış zamanda geldiği için kapattığın bir hatırlatıcıyı kullanılabilir hale getiriyorlar.
Altındaki düzeltmeler
Bu sürümde özel kanal izinleri, sunucudan atma, yasaklama ve oturum kapatma, açık bağlantılara da anında uygulanıyor. Aramadan çıkınca mikrofon ve kamera kapanıyor; bas-konuş, tuşun bırakılması kaçırıldığında açık kalmıyor. Mesaj geçmişi, art arda gelen mesajları artık atlamıyor.
